Road markings such as dividing lines and stop bars need to be kept up.
In large shopping centers the speed limits may be extremely low, but accidents can still happen. the main aisles or roads leading in do not always have stop signs when they cross each other, most rely simply on yellow stop bars painted on the ground. That in itself is not a bad thing, but when they are extremely faded, people just don’t notice them, especially in the rain. Many shopping centers do not paint those bar markings in a timely manner.
As for the roads, those of you who drive the mountain passes, the ones with several lanes on each side, know what it is like trying to determine which lane you are in. Once the rains hit, which are quite frequent in some areas, the lines are so well disguised, no one knows what lane they are in. Even those who regularly travel the passes cannot determine which lane they are really in.
Safety first. . . beauty second. . . Maybe if the safety projects were given more priority more of the general public would be willing to jump in and help with the beauty part of it. . . but then, maybe not.
