Shh? No! Speak up!

OK, I shoved aside memories of calling support for PC years ago only to reach an uninterested person that also had no clue - and dialed Lunarpages support. I did have to hold a long time, but the man was nice and fixed my problem - I think. Then I played again, experimented -grin. I now have Wordpress 2.2.1 loaded onto three blogs, but I did completely delete it from the one blog I had already migrated to, this one! I put it in a directory that, by name, should have been for my poetry blog. So, I got brave and dumped it and. . . .

Tomorrow while I brave the heat with no A/C I will transfer those three and if that works, I will buy the FTP client?? for Mac and stare into space again. Of course, I have two different recommendations from two reliable sources - and we know I over think things at times.

(At least in Florida we had A/C — heck of a time to be thinking about breaking records for heat! But I loaded up on Gatorade, water, lemons, ice, and cold foods! I’ve got mini skirts and loose t-shirts ready, strategically placed scrunchies to get my long hair off me, and I’m determined to ward off the heat) I’m locking away the alcohol in case I get tempted - grin.

I hate summer when it acts like a Florida summer! I feel for y’all suffering through it all the time, I remember it only too well! — Our temps are supposed to be about 15 degrees above normal for this time of year. At least it is cool over night!

Isn’t this fun! Actually it is amusing. I have other blogs y’all haven’t seen started at lunarpages - not uploaded to the net yet - not even sure how, but it must be possible, because this one just uploaded to its own domain with Wordpress kind of by magic! So, I guess I just need to figure out what magic words I didn’t say to the B2Evolution blogs.

There is just one little minor glitch about Shh-Speakup. You see, I have domain names ready to go for Tumbled Words and RVPoetry, once I move them. RV Poetry is sitting on my B2Evolution dashboard, I’m working on it. Tumbled Words is just the domain still. However, this morning while trying to bore Leon, I discovered that if I type either of those names (which should not yet go anywhere) they both take us directly to Shh-Speakup.com. What on earth did I do???????

I only migrated this blog, I decided wise woman would not do the other one yet! My photos went over, SOME of my comments. . . Looks like links within posts are there. What about links in comments???? Not there! Although some of my Mr. Linkys are there and those links work. . . .

Now, I saw something about a 301 redirect - and copied it and made the changes on my text editor, but I need to find out if I should use it. I’m going to back up something later and add the code and see what happens. Isn’t this fun?! Actually, it is - a bit.

Is it true I have to relink ALL THOSE photos? Please, say, not! I mean, after all, Blogger now sends the photos up to Picasa, so with my limited knowledge and powers of reasoning , the photos should be fine! Right? They are really linked to Picasa then and not Blogger?

OOPS - does this mean I have to search again for instructions on no-follow? Because I did it for Blogger before? And what happens to those commentors that were linked and now aren’t?
Does the 301 make up for that? Do I need to leave both versions of my blog out there indefinitely?

Now, I have to get software for Mac to upload the template I want into the file that is somewhere I haven’t found yet. I don’t want the templates that came as defaults. I’ll learn. Damien helped a bit already with one little question. . . the only one I asked so far. I have a couple more for him. . . Of course, anyone else is free to jump in.

So, the first part was easy. Copying the 301 redirect code I found is easy, too, once I find out if I should do it. Now, where does that template get uploaded to?

P.S. It was a shock when I hit import and ALL my blogs showed up on that Wordpress screen. At least I knew enough not to tell it to put ALL of them on that domain. Oh yeah, one more questions, there waas a button on that page that did something, resetting or something? I wonder what that was? OK, on to being a housewife.

OK, this is it. Today is the day I migrate (only) two of my blogs to Wordpress.org. This one and Tumbled Words. I know it won’t happen overnight, I just hope it happens. Both will be under their blognames with .com added.

I will be making some changes to Shh-Speakup, using it as I originally intended, more as a link and comment on organizations and just speaking up. No fluff, so to speak, as its name infers.

I am moving the two memes I do, Wordless Wednesday and the Saturday Photo Hunt to Tumbled Words. Now, as is my personality, I am not just moving one, then waiting to see what happens, but just going for it. . . That is if I can figure it out. If I am successful, I will post the link to the instructions I found in the next post, along with the correct link to my new blogs. If not, well, I’ll post that info, if I can retrieve this blog ever again. But I will be successful, the alternatives are not acceptable.

Please, keep your fingers crossed - and your toes, and that hair on your head — ’cause I read between the lines so much in poetry and people’s body language, I may try to read between the lines in code instructions, too, and we all know that is a mistake.
