Lindsay, who has designed some really cool blog templates, is having yet another contest. Whether you just want a makeover or are curious which of the blogs you have visited she has done, visit Splat Designs.

You’ll make it easier on her if you win rather than me, because I have no earthly idea what I want as a template for Shh-Speakup. Well, I do, but I would probably try her patience!

PS. Thanks, Claire, for entering so I saw it!

I’ve declared Fridays a day for Kudos on Shh-Speak up. (Why did I make up with no beginning cap, is it because I am sometimes just speaking and not speaking up?)

Some Fridays it will be about organizations, but today, it is a simple one to Leon for making one aspect of my life easier: using public restrooms. Yes, he makes it easier whether at a highway rest stop or a local restaurant and store. And any husband or friend could do the same. Just do for yours as Leon does for me while I run in the most times YUCK! restroom:

Hold my coat
Hold my purse
Hold my camera
Hold the bags I am carrying (or the books or keys or coffee. . .)

And one he forgets: remind me to tie my long hair back so it doesn’t accidentally make contact with anything!)

It may seem like a little thing, but judging by the envious looks I get from the women whose husbands refuse to touch their purses in public. . . it is not.

And remember, y’all, many of you are hugging her in that coat that got drug on the floor or worse. . .

Thank you, Leon, for making an unpleasant experience (I HATE public restrooms) much better. And you wear my purse quite well, after all you’ve had years of practice.

How could I not know that International Women’s Day was today, March 8th? I have not lived in a vacuum. I watch the news at least once a day and get news updates. I stumbled on it on two blogs today.

More importantly, how could I not know of its existence at all? It has been observed since the early 1900’s. Follow this link to read a brief history.

Never underestimate yourselves!

I
see
for all:
tolerance
and understanding
forever, from this day forward. . .

A dream I would love to see come true. . .

I have been browsing blogger land a lot in recent days. I knew there was a disparity between the salary of some CEOs and their employees, but these numbers are insane. Check them out at Cobb on Money’s December post.

I already feel guilty enough some days just having food on the table and money for dinners out and a little fun. I could never justify salaries like that for me, but I try to justify their salaries — thinking they might donate millions or hundreds of thousands back. . . but if more people made a living wage, there would be less need for millions in donations. . .

If the money given to one individual was spread out among the employees. . . maybe it would not make enough difference to research and some charities,(on the assumption huge amounts were donated by ALL CEO’s, but sometimes it is that small extra in a paycheck that feeds or buys medicine.
