People, in general, wonder why so many businesses go out of business. I wonder why as many stay in business as they do.

I realize it is difficult at times for management to get their point across to employees, to train them, to help them learn to treat customers as though they have value.

And for those who are in that position and still trying to work with new employees, I applaud your efforts.

- But it appears some management

- But it appears management in too many businesses either do not have the skills or just do not have any better attitude than the employees they hire.

- But it appears management is holding on to employees both not qualified to learn the job or with attitudes unsuited for customer service.

And to you, I will try your business once, twice, if it appears it is just one employee trying to learn, but after that, I will drive 25 miles if necessary to avoid your business. I refuse to reward another business that just doesn’t care.

But then, the USPS, over the years I have found two many uninformed or non caring employees. I’m apt to run out of places to go.

That said, I have found a few great employees there, I just hope I find more!

If you cannot do a job with integrity, it is not the job for you. Find another one.

Side note: Just because some are going along with you does not mean even they have not lost respect for you - and I bet for some of you, if you took the time to look inside, you would find you have lost respect for yourself as well.

Why not earn it back? If not, get another job.

… more than people realize!

Family: it is well known family time is important and working for a living to a point interferes with that process, but it is a necessary and for the most part good evil. There is much to be gained other than money by spending hours working “together”!

Those who can afford it spend money on toll roads to get where they are going faster, many times the place they are heading is home, home to their families.

Many of the working poor work two jobs to make ends meet - just to get bare necessities. They weave through side streets, the long way home, because they have no money for tolls. They miss those few extra moments with their families.

Society leans toward the rich. More and more, government is pushing for toll roads. Shame, isn’t it that being rich affords more than just luxuries?

That said money to fix roads has to come from somewhere… wouldn’t taxing by percentage be more fair?

I know I went from point A - tolls affect families to Point B - taxing by percentage. Just the way my mind works. Everything affects something else. It is not easy coming up with solutions that do right for everyone. I doubt I could do it - well.

Pizza delivery. Many times it is successful. Pizza still warm, delivery driver personable, food edible. We eat, we forget to take the time to say to the management, “job well done.” I know we are not the only ones. (Reminder to all of us to call on good things to!)

Pizza delivery. Desert pizza topping all in one corner of box. How fast did he take that corner? Or was it the person handing the pizza to the driver? Did he or she hold it at a 90 degree angle or shake it just for the fun of it? Not the first time, nor the last, I am sure, but the time that a call had to be made because the pizza contents were in a similar location within the box.

Call made. “Wish to complain about pizza delivery.” A description given of condition of pizza.

“Well, I don’t deliver them.” (I think we figured that out, since you answered the phone at the restaurant and the driver had not had time even taking corners “that way” to get back there to answer your phone, although he would have been more polite, perhaps.)

“Well, I don’t really care who I tell. May I speak to the manager?” (notice the polite use of the word, “may”)

“I am the manager.”

The conversation went down hill from then. And you know what, we quit ordering from them. If the management has that attitude how can the company expect to bring a below average employee up to average or better? Why should they care if the manager doesn’t? (OK, so we ALL know the answer to that one… rhetorical, I know. )

The shame of it is they are the best pizza out there, flavor wise. We are also moving, so there would be many opportunities to order. We won’t. I won’t bother publishing the name of the chain, because this is about the individual manager and about companies not paying attention to how their managers are doing. And this scene or one similar is carried out all over. We have had enough poor service from companies, and even in small towns like the one below us, there are PLENTY of other companies offering similar products.

They keep giving poor service, because we keep buying because it is convenient. When will we learn? Hopefully, we just did.

OK, I shoved aside memories of calling support for PC years ago only to reach an uninterested person that also had no clue - and dialed Lunarpages support. I did have to hold a long time, but the man was nice and fixed my problem - I think. Then I played again, experimented -grin. I now have Wordpress 2.2.1 loaded onto three blogs, but I did completely delete it from the one blog I had already migrated to, this one! I put it in a directory that, by name, should have been for my poetry blog. So, I got brave and dumped it and. . . .

Tomorrow while I brave the heat with no A/C I will transfer those three and if that works, I will buy the FTP client?? for Mac and stare into space again. Of course, I have two different recommendations from two reliable sources - and we know I over think things at times.

(At least in Florida we had A/C — heck of a time to be thinking about breaking records for heat! But I loaded up on Gatorade, water, lemons, ice, and cold foods! I’ve got mini skirts and loose t-shirts ready, strategically placed scrunchies to get my long hair off me, and I’m determined to ward off the heat) I’m locking away the alcohol in case I get tempted - grin.

I hate summer when it acts like a Florida summer! I feel for y’all suffering through it all the time, I remember it only too well! — Our temps are supposed to be about 15 degrees above normal for this time of year. At least it is cool over night!
