Pizza delivery. Many times it is successful. Pizza still warm, delivery driver personable, food edible. We eat, we forget to take the time to say to the management, “job well done.” I know we are not the only ones. (Reminder to all of us to call on good things to!)

Pizza delivery. Desert pizza topping all in one corner of box. How fast did he take that corner? Or was it the person handing the pizza to the driver? Did he or she hold it at a 90 degree angle or shake it just for the fun of it? Not the first time, nor the last, I am sure, but the time that a call had to be made because the pizza contents were in a similar location within the box.

Call made. “Wish to complain about pizza delivery.” A description given of condition of pizza.

“Well, I don’t deliver them.” (I think we figured that out, since you answered the phone at the restaurant and the driver had not had time even taking corners “that way” to get back there to answer your phone, although he would have been more polite, perhaps.)

“Well, I don’t really care who I tell. May I speak to the manager?” (notice the polite use of the word, “may”)

“I am the manager.”

The conversation went down hill from then. And you know what, we quit ordering from them. If the management has that attitude how can the company expect to bring a below average employee up to average or better? Why should they care if the manager doesn’t? (OK, so we ALL know the answer to that one… rhetorical, I know. )

The shame of it is they are the best pizza out there, flavor wise. We are also moving, so there would be many opportunities to order. We won’t. I won’t bother publishing the name of the chain, because this is about the individual manager and about companies not paying attention to how their managers are doing. And this scene or one similar is carried out all over. We have had enough poor service from companies, and even in small towns like the one below us, there are PLENTY of other companies offering similar products.

They keep giving poor service, because we keep buying because it is convenient. When will we learn? Hopefully, we just did.

OK, I shoved aside memories of calling support for PC years ago only to reach an uninterested person that also had no clue - and dialed Lunarpages support. I did have to hold a long time, but the man was nice and fixed my problem - I think. Then I played again, experimented -grin. I now have Wordpress 2.2.1 loaded onto three blogs, but I did completely delete it from the one blog I had already migrated to, this one! I put it in a directory that, by name, should have been for my poetry blog. So, I got brave and dumped it and. . . .

Tomorrow while I brave the heat with no A/C I will transfer those three and if that works, I will buy the FTP client?? for Mac and stare into space again. Of course, I have two different recommendations from two reliable sources - and we know I over think things at times.

(At least in Florida we had A/C — heck of a time to be thinking about breaking records for heat! But I loaded up on Gatorade, water, lemons, ice, and cold foods! I’ve got mini skirts and loose t-shirts ready, strategically placed scrunchies to get my long hair off me, and I’m determined to ward off the heat) I’m locking away the alcohol in case I get tempted - grin.

I hate summer when it acts like a Florida summer! I feel for y’all suffering through it all the time, I remember it only too well! — Our temps are supposed to be about 15 degrees above normal for this time of year. At least it is cool over night!

Make eye contact! I could be talking about in a simple conversation, because it applies there, too; I am not. I am referring to vehicle drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists.

Daring to walk out or change lanes or turn in front of something or someone without taking that extra second to make sure they see you could be a fatal mistake for you and a heart wrenching one for those left behind.

If they haven’t acknowledged your presence or at least looked at you, they most likely do not realize you are there. It doesn’t matter if they are just gripping the steering wheel lost in thought, on the cell phone, or have an animal or other person present, they may have looked away just long enough to not see you. Two other factors come into play. There are a myriad of interesting things going on around them, great distractions. Also, they cannot read your mind! Suddenly changing lanes when your car has not even cleared theres is not something they can predict every time. Those other times was either dumb luck or someone looking over a shoulder.

And just for the record, that person’s shoulder being looked over from above, may NOT have been yours, it may have been the shoulder of the other person involved. Think about that - before you step outside your house.

Written both as a reminder to all of y’all and to myself. I am human, too. Let’s all be safer.
